Project Page

We are building a home security system, using a webcam, motion and light sensors, and a regular computer. When the sensors are tripped, the webcam will start taking pictures and then the computer will text the pictures to a cell phone number, email them to any email address, and upload them via FTP to a website, letting you know exactly who has broken into your house. The webcam will move back and forth to scan a wider area. We can also modify a regular webcam to capture only infrared light, so it can capture pictures at night, with no visible light in the room.

Processing

Processing (found at http://processing.org/ ) is an open source programming language and environment for people who want to program images, animation, and interactions. It is used by students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists for learning, prototyping, and production. It is created to teach fundamentals of computer programming within a visual context and to serve as a software sketchbook and professional production tool. Processing is an alternative to proprietary software tools in the same domain.
