SUMMARY
Today we were talking about raising awareness about criminal police and trying to find a way for people to learn their rights. 7-17-08
We suggested finding filed reports about police officers, and the crimes that they have committed.
IDEAS
- Corrupt officers/ Criminal police registry
- Youtube website for cops to upload captured video
- Using Android-Google phones to post captured video of these crimes onto the internet in real time
- Law enforcement programs for public awareness
- T.V. shows that consist of more awareness in police abuse or brutality in some sort or nature.
ISSUES
__SOLUTION__: CONSTRUCTION OF A WEBSITE (similar to the sex offender site www.familywatchdog.us)
- Easily accessible to the public/easy registration
- Picture or video entry for verification of story
- Admitted stories will be sent to newstations and other associations involved with police corruption
- An educational law enforcement program that has legal expertise to educate public about their rights
- Try to get legislation passed similar to the Jonny Gammage Law which would hold police officers accountable to the law for corrupt police behavior.
__The Jonny Gammage Law would mandate__:
- appointment of a federal prosecutor by the US Attorney General whenever a law officer is accused of violating the civil rights of a human being, including bodily injury or death;
- US Department of Justice investigation of whether prosecution is warranted for all charges of civil rights violations and brutality by police officers by credible public or private sources, such as Citizen Review Boards, Human Rights Commissions, and civil rights organizations;
- removal of jurisdiction over such cases from the local and state justice system, including the grand jury, to the US Department of Justice and the federal courts;
- the immediate suspension of an officer charged until the case is resolved;
- a permanent bar an officer convicted under the Jonny Gammage Law from ever being employed as a law enforcement officer again;
- federal monitoring to insure fair treatment on the job of police officers who testify against other officers in these cases.

- Sobriety Check points just to search you illegally
- Cops turn on their lights when no emergency is present to race through traffic lights
- False imprisonement/ charging more than one person with a single weapon and putting both in jail.
- Improper use of a computer/ web browsing
- Bribing police for use of narcotics
- A citizen attempting to protect another citizen being wrongfully arrested is physically abused by a police officer
- Police disregarding a petty crime such as robbery or shoptlifting
- Under suspision due to shifty movements/nervous movements, police are able to search or pat you down
- Police shooting an unarmed suspect that does not have a weapon or appear to have one
- Police searching your house without a warrant to enter your property
- Police taking items such as a skateboard, that are yours that are not being used to harm anybody or break laws in the community.
- Group of friends at a mall only a few were involved in a fight but all get arrested
- Unwarning pepper spraying when just walking on the street filming the police
- Illegal strip searching, walking no the street, police think you are suspicious so they decide to pat you down and strip search you.
