CarbonDioxideCO2 or Carbon Dioxide is known as a Greenhouse Gas. These are gasses which, when added to the Earth's atmosphere, trap heat in and make the planet heat up. To use fossil fuels, they are burned to release heat and energy. Carbon Dioxide is a byproduct of burning. When there have been high concentrations of Carbon Dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere in the past, the temperature of the planet has increased. This increase in temperature causes climate change.
