  2. Jeopardy
  3. Different interactive games
  4. Instructables.com solar panels
    1. Projects from solar panels and games
  5. Making a charger using a solar panels (project idea)

Lesson Plan Overview for Week of Alternative Energy 2

Have new youth teachers create more efficient energy models using less energy and generating more energy and measure the amount of energy used. The youth teachers will be able to use multimeters and have them experiment with the solar panels and how much energy the solar panels absorb from the lights and other resources that emit light energy.

     1. Youth Teachers will be introduced to multimeters and for 5-10 minutes will measure the voltage from solar panels, motors, and examples we set out

     2. Youth Teachers will have 20-30 minutes to sketch and build their new, more efficient energy models

     3. Youth Teachers will then use multimeters to measure the amount of energy the energy model produces

     4. After measuring the amount of energy their models produce, Youth Teachers will make their energy models more adequate

     5. If there is more time, we will discuss why some models worked better than others and/or why they were more sufficient

AE2

AE3

AE4, AE5 (future planning)

- Global warming recap

- Different kinds of alternative energy

- Gear ratio

- Electrolysis

- Fuel cell

- Reverse electrolysis

- Refer to previous weeks for information

Adding on to AE4

  1. Show varied clips of An Inconvenient Truth
  2. Futurama Greenhouse Gases
  3. Since it is the last (?) lesson, have a talk on how they would teach kids, their methods
  4. How does it relate to real life
  5. List of facts and statistics on alternative energy, global warming, and greenhouse gases
  6. Lecture about electrolysis while fuel cell car is charging
  7. Have them be able to explain electrolysis as if they were actually teaching

AE5 Jeopardy *conflict* Not teaching up to AE5 but lessons stop at AE4
